On September 26th, history was made at the Gotham Hall, NY, as the FOCOS 2025 Gala brought together friends, partners, and supporters from around the world for an unforgettable evening in celebration of our mission to provide world-class orthopedic care to those who need it most.
The night was filled with moving stories, meaningful connections, and inspiring tributes. Together, we raised critical funds that will help us continue to transform lives and bring hope to patients across Africa and beyond.
A highlight of the evening was the recognition of our honorees, who exemplify the spirit of generosity, collaboration, and commitment that sustains the FOCOS mission:
- Grateful Patient Honoree: Bahia Akerele, whose story reminds us of the life-changing impact of care.
- Philanthropic Honoree: Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), represented by Roula Siklas, whose dedication to healthcare access has empowered thousands.
- Affiliate Honoree: Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), represented by Dr. Han Jo Kim, for their continued collaboration in advancing world-class orthopedic care.
- Corporate Honoree: Major Family Foundation, led by Eric Major, whose vision and support strengthen the future of FOCOS.
In his heartfelt address, Nana Prof. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II, Founder and President of FOCOS, shared: “FOCOS is our dream. Happiness is loving someone, Happiness is having something to do, Happiness is hoping for something, and this is all embodied in the work of FOCOS.”

While the Gala was a resounding success, our work is far from finished. More than 4,000 patients remain on our waiting list, and with your support, we can bring them closer to healing.
