Dr. Michael Mendelow is an orthopedic surgery specialist in Greenville, SC. He joined Shriners Hospitals for Children-Greenville in 2012, and in 2014 became one of the first surgeons in the nation to use the Magnetic Expansion Control (MAGEC) spinal bracing and distraction system to benefit scoliosis patients. Dr. Mendelow’s special interest in spine deformities includes scoliosis, as well as spondylolisthesis, congenital scoliosis and kyphosis. He also has special interest in cerebral palsy, foot deformity and general pediatric orthopedics.

Dr. Mendelow has served as chairman of the Scoliosis Research Society’s Growing Spine Committee – an exclusive group of surgeons from throughout the world who come together to address spine deformity in younger children. He is also a member of multiple other professional societies, including the Scoliosis Research Society, Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.  He is a founding board member of FOCOS.

Dr. Mendelow graduated from Baylor College of Medicine and has been practicing for 29 years. The husband and father of two college students enjoys cycling, yoga and spending time with his dogs.
