Bettye Wright has been a dedicated FOCOS volunteer and board member since inception in 1998.  Her compassion and action have helped to improve the lives of thousands of FOCOS patients from across the world.

A retired physician’s assistant from Detroit, MI, Bettye first travelled to Ghana in 1998 when she accompanied FOCOS Founder, Dr. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei, to perform surgery at a local teaching hospital. After retiring from Rochester Hills Orthopedics in 2007, Bettye committed more and more of her time to the FOCOS mission and has played a vital role in the development of what now is the FOCOS Orthopedic Hospital.

Bettye’s tireless efforts have engaged thousands of people with our cause. She is a compassionate advocate for FOCOS patients, especially children. Bettye has led the charge behind education and teaching initiatives at the Hospital and has established a continuing education and training program for FOCOS nurses. She currently resides in Ghana and serves as a Senior Nursing Consultant and Manager and she continues to support FOCOS patients and staff.
